Before the competition was interrupted in 2020 by the global pandemic, the Top 20 contestants had been selected and were on their way to stardom. This year, they will battle it out on digital platforms to become the Top 10 contenders before vying for the 3 winning spots to be featured on the MTN Bushfire 2021 Digital Festival. And you can help decide the winners by voting!

Sponsored by MTN Eswatini, the MTN Bushfire Firefly music competition is one of the biggest launch-pads for unearthing fresh new talent in the Kingdom of Eswatini. Launched in 2017, The aim of this vibrant platform is to create a music space without limitations for the youth of Eswatini, to freely express and share their musical creativity and lyrical authenticity. With its global following, MTN Bushfire actively supports the development of artists and the creative industry in Eswatini. Amongst the exciting prizes and new career opportunities, the three winners will be featured in the MTN Bushfire 2021 Digital Festival.

How It Works

• Applications are open to residents or nationals of Eswatini only
• Independent judges select the Top 20 Finalists from the submissions, who will be announced on our social media platforms, along with their music track links for listening
• The public votes for their favourite Finalist/s to get them to the Top 10
• Voting is open via an Online Voting System and mobile SMS
• The highest number of public votes will determine the Top 10 acts to perform at the Grand Finale.
• The Top 3 are voted for by the public, as well as esteemed judges, at the Grand Finale
• The Grand Finale takes place at House On Fire, in Malkerns.

*All finalists and eventual winners will be required to sing on back-track during their performance. The Top 3 Winners will be chosen and announced on the night, securing a spot in the MTN Bushfire 2021 Digital Festival. When choosing winners, 80% of the votes will be from the public and 20% by our esteemed judges. It is imperative that the Top 10 bring their A-game and market their participation effectively as this will also contribute to their final scores.

Terms & Conditions

• Applications are open to the youth (aged 16 – 35)
•  Applicants must be residents of Eswatini (must provide Eswatini ID or Proof of Residence in Eswatini)
• Applicants must send 2 tracks for consideration
• Finalists will be required to sing along on backtrack
• Finalists agree to have their music submissions uploaded online for public download / listening
• Finalists agree to record promotional videos
• Applicants must have an active number registered on the MTN network
